Sometimes the simplest things are best. A dish that takes minimal time and effort can be just as amazing as something that takes all day.
These croutons are just that type of thing- easy but amazing. Even better is the fact that you get to use leftover or day-old bread. Just cube it up, throw some oil and seasonings in a pan, and voila! Wonderfully fragrant croutons for your dinner salad.
Garlic Herb Croutons
3-4 TB oil, preferably olive
2 cups cubed day old french baguettes
1/4 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the garlic and saute for 30 seconds. Add the bread cubes and stir the croutons until they become nice and toasty, about 5-7 minutes. Add the oregano and basil and saute for 1 more minute. Transfer to a large plate or platter and cool them in a single layer. Use to top any salad!
